Chapter 2. Installing the keyboard and using the smart card
reader
This chapter provides information about installing the keyboard and using the smart card reader.

Installing the device drivers

Before installing the keyboard, you must install the hotkey driver and the smart-card-reader driver.
Otherwise, you cannot use some functions of the keyboard. For example, if you are using a Windows
XP operating system, you must install the smart-card-reader driver to use the smart card reader of the
keyboard; if you are using a Windows 7, Windows 8, or Windows 8.1 operating system, you must install the
smart-card-reader driver to use some specific functions like the secure PIN entry.
Note: If the hotkey driver and the smart-card-reader driver are already installed on your computer,
uninstall the drivers before you install the new ones. See "Uninstalling the device drivers" on page 6 for
more information.
To install the device drivers, do the following:
1. Go to http://www.lenovo.com/support/keyboards.
2. Locate and download the installation files.
3. Double-click each installation file, and then follow the instructions on the screen to complete the
installation.
