Troubleshooting chart

Please refer to the following chart to resolve most common problems your Express may develop.
For questions, problems or service not discussed in this manual, or for parts ordering, please call
Currie technical and customer service at 1-800-377-4532.
Issue
Express will not turn on (battery does
not respond to input)
Express battery turns on, but motor
does not activate
Drive belt skips under load
Check (remove & inspect) battery fuse (see "Fuses" section of this
manual).

Even if the fuse is good, removing it will "reset" the battery, which
may resolve the issue.
Battery may be discharged below its shutoff voltage. Please plug the
battery into the charger for 4 - 6 hours.
Turn the battery off then on and recheck.
Ensure that the battery pack is making a good connection to the bike.
See "Battery installation" section of this manual.
Check battery fuse (see "Fuses" section of this manual).

Even if the fuse is good, removing it will "reset" the battery, which
may resolve the issue.
Battery charge may be too low to power bike. Check battery indicator
lights, referring to "Battery indicator levels" section of this manual.
Motor assist level may be set to "lights only" mode. Press the battery's
up arrow several times to choose a higher assist mode. See "Motor
assist levels" section of this manual for more information.
Using a flashlight to look through the transparent plastic, check that
the cadence sensor belt has not fallen off either sprocket. If it has, it
will need to be re-attached before the Express will operate. See the
"Cadence sensor" section of this manual for more information.
Re-adjust belt tension. Refer to "Belt tension adjustment" section of
this manual.
