Setup Music File Server

1. Samba Server
① If the PC server and livOn Player are located in the
same local network(for example, home network),
the Samba protocol can be used to share files.
② The setup method of Samba varies on devices, so
please refer to the manual of it.
③ In case of PC with Windows O/S, it can be activated
easily by setting "Share" of a directory in Windows
Explorer. livOn Player can connect to it with Samba
protocol to play music files.
④ IP address of server, logon ID, password and share-
name of the directory are necessary to register
livOn Player as a "Channel".
DDNS(Dynamic Domain Name Service)
In most cases at home, ISP(Internet Service Provider) allocates "dynamically" public IP address to home router. It means the public IP
address of router can not be predicted. So in order to connect the server at home from outside through Internet, the dynamic
updating IP address of "Domain Name"(URL) with valid IP address is necessary. The most popular service for this purpose is DDNS,
and many companies provide this service for free or at a cost.

2. FTP Server
① If the server is located in remote site connected
through Internet, the FTP protocol should be used.
② In case of PC, download the free FTP server
program from Internet and install it to PC. Then
run it and set the directory of music files, logon ID
and password.
③ In case of NAS storage or others, configure FTP
server according to the guide in its users manual.
④ In most cases, the server is at home and connected
to Internet via private router, so DDNS(Dynamic
Domain Name Service) or similar one should be
introduced to access it from remote site.
⑤ Please refer to next page to set DDNS service, and
keep the hostname(URL), registered in DDNS, logon
ID and password of FTP server to register "Channel"
of livOn Player.
