1 Making a Private Call by Alias Search

You can also use alias or alphanumeric search to
retrieve the required subscriber alias.
This feature is only applicable while in Contacts.
Procedure:

to access the menu.

to "Contact" and press
The entries are alphabetically sorted.
3 Key in the first character of the alias.

to the required alias.
5 Hold the radio vertically 1 to 2 inches (2.5 to 5.0
cm) from your mouth.
6 Press the PTT button to make the call. The LED
lights up solid green. The first line displays the
target radio's ID. The second line displays "Pri-
vate Call" and the Private Call icon.
7 Wait for the Talk Permit Tone to finish (if en-
abled) and speak clearly into the microphone.
8 Release the PTT button to listen. When the tar-
get radio responds, the LED blinks green.

9 If the Channel Free Indication feature is en-
abled, you will hear a short alert tone the mo-
ment the target radio releases the PTT button,
indicating the channel is free for you to respond.
Press the PTT button to respond.
OR
If there is no voice activity for a programmed
period of time, the call ends.

10 You hear a short tone. The display shows "Call
Ended".
NOTE: If you release the PTT button while the
radio is setting up the call, it exits without
any indication and returns to the previous
screen.
Your radio may be programmed to perform
a radio presence check prior to setting up
the Private Call. If the target radio is not
available, you hear a short tone and see
"Party Not Available" on the display.
The radio returns to the menu prior to initi-
ating the radio presence check.
