WARNING: Patients receiving peritoneal dialysis using solutions
containing Icodextrin (e.g. Extraneal, Icodial) should not use the
Accu-Chek Compact test strip. It could cause an overestimation
of glucose results.
The Accu-Chek Compact Plus meter is intended for use by one
person only.
Use of the same Accu-Chek Compact Plus meter for blood
glucose testing in more than one person poses an infection risk.
The Accu-Chek Softclix Plus lancing device is intended for patient
self-monitoring by a single person.
It must not be used to collect blood from more than one person
as this poses an infection risk.
Any object coming into contact with human blood is a potential source
of infection (see: National Committee for Clinical Laboratory Standards:
Protection of Laboratory Workers from Instrument Biohazards and Infec-
tious Disease Transmitted by Blood, Body Fluids, and Tissue. Approved
Guideline, NCCLS document M29-A, 1997).
