NEW CT4i – FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1. What are the interfaces available on the new CT4i ?
The New CT4i printer comes with 2 types of standard built-in interface combinations
(Type 1 and Type 2) as shown below. For Type 1, it is also possible to insert one additional
plug-in interface card option (IEEE 1284, WLAN + LAN or Bluetooth).
Standard Built-in Interface Type1: USB 2.0 + RS232C
Type 2: USB 2.0 + LAN
Selectable Plug-in Interface
Cards options (Type1 only)
Parallel (IEEE1284), WLAN (IEEE802.11g) + LAN, Bluetooth V1.1
2. Are the Plug-in interface cards used on new CT4i compatible with the current CT4 ?
The Parallel and WLAN Plug-in Interface cards are the same for the new CT4i and the CT4
printers. The Bluetooth interface card will only work on the new CT4i model.

3. Is the Bluetooth Interface Option fi eld-installable ?
Yes. The Bluetooth Interface is a Plug-in card similar to the Parallel or WLAN Plug-in
Interface card used on the current CT4 printer and it is fi eld-installable. Note that this
Bluetooth Interface card only works with the new CT4i (USB + RS232C) model.
4. Is there any tool to confi gure the internal LAN interface on the new CT4i ?
The internal built-in LAN interface on the new CT4i (USB + LAN) can be confi gured using the
SATO Network Setting tool or via Web browser.
5. With the new CT4i, can we use the same LAN confi guration tool that we are using on
the current CT4 ?
The built-in internal LAN on the new CT4i (USB + LAN) printer as well as the WLAN + LAN
plug-in interface card [For CT4i (USB + RS232C) model only] can be confi gured using the
SATO Network Setting Tool.
– The all-in-one (Draft) Tool supports the new CT4i printer
– The existing Silex Admin Manager Tool can only be used to confi gure the WLAN + LAN
plug-in interface card. So, you can only use Admin Manager for the CT4i Optional Plug-in
WLAN Interface card but not for the on-board LAN interface which is not from Silex.
– SATO created an additional which can also be used to confi gure the CT4i LAN or WLAN
interface. It can be downloaded from the CT4i Microsite at Satoeurope.com.
6. What is the memory of the new CT4i ?
The new CT4i comes with 4 MB Flash and 16 MB SDRAM.
7. What are the options available on the new CT4i ?
Cutter, Dispenser, Linerless Kit, RFID (HF 13.56 MHz) Kit
8. Are the new CT4i and the current CT4 using the same Cutter, Dispenser or Linerless Kit ?
No. The new CT4i and the current CT4 uses different Cutter, Dispenser and Linerless Kit
which are not compatible.
