SERVICING YOUR HONDA ENGINE
AIR CLEANER
SERVICE
A dirty air filter will restrict air flow to the carburetor,
reducing
engine
performance.
If you operate the engine in very dusty areas, clean the air filter
more often than specified in the MAINTENANCE
SCHEDULE (see page 21).
Operating the engine without an air filter, or with a damaged air filter, will allow
dirt to enter the engine, causing rapid engine wear. This type of damage is not
covered by the Distributor's
Limited Warranty.
1. Remove the wing bolt from the air cleaner cover, and remove the cover.
2. Remove the two 5 mm screws from the air cleaner cover and remove the
paper filter element from the cover.
3. Remove the foam filter element from the air cleaner body.

4. Inspect both air filter elements, and replace them if they are damaged.
Always replace the paper filter element at the scheduled interval (see page
21).
