    VIVOTEK Installation Removing Dome Cover First, follow the instructions below to remove the dome cover. Flip the black retention tabs in the clockwise direction to release the dome cover (clockwise if you look from the bottom up.) Then remove the black cover as shown below.

    VIVOTEK Ready to Use 1. A browser session with the Network Camera should prompt as shown below. 2. You should be able to see live video from your camera. You may also install the 32-channel recording software from the software CD in a deployment consisting of multiple cameras. For its installation details, please refer to its related documents.

    VIVOTEK MP4 Saving Options Users can record live video as they are watching it by clicking Start MP4 Recording on the main page. Here, you can specify the storage destination and file name. Folder: Specify a storage destination on your PC for the recorded video files. The location can be changed.

    VIVOTEK Joystick Settings Enable Joystick Connect to the USB plug of the joystick to a USB port on your management computer. Supported by the plug-in in the main page (Microsoft’s DirectX), once the plug-in in the main page is loaded, it will automatically detect if there is any joystick on the computer.

    VIVOTEK Access log Access log displays the access time and IP address of all viewers (including operators and administrators) in a chronological order. The access log is stored in the Network Camera’s buffer area and will be overwritten when reaching a certain limit.

    Note: Do not power off the Network Camera during the upgrade! Follow the steps below to upgrade the firmware: 1. Download the latest firmware file from the VIVOTEK website. The file is in .pkg file format. 2. Click Browse… and locate the firmware file.

  • Page 50 VIVOTEK Noise reduction ■ Enable noise reduction: Check to enable noise reduction in order to reduce noises and flickers in image. This applies to the onboard 3D Noise Reduction feature. Use the pull-down menu to adjust the reduction strength. Note that applying this function to the video channel will consume system computing power.

The measuring window refers to “weighted window“ where the lighting condition within the particular area is taken into account. Camera firmware then adopts the weighted averages method to calculate the value.

The shorter the duration, the more likely you will get better video quality, but at the cost of higher network bandwidth consumption. Select the intra frame period from the following durations: 1/4 second, 1/2 second, 1 second, 2 seconds, 3 seconds, and 4 seconds.
  • Page 58 VIVOTEK JPEG mode is selected, the Network Camera sends consecutive JPEG images to the client, producing a moving effect similar to a filmstrip. Every single JPEG image transmitted guarantees the same image quality, which in turn comes at the expense of variable bandwidth usage. Because the media contents are a combination of JPEG images, no audio data is transmitted to the client.

You can use CustomSafe100 to register a dynamic domain name if your distributor or system integrators offer such services.
  • Page 74 VIVOTEK Network > QoS (Quality of Service) Advanced Mode Quality of Service refers to a resource reservation control mechanism, which guarantees a certain quality to different services on the network. Quality of service guarantees are important if the network capacity is insufficient, especially for real-time streaming multimedia applications. Quality can be defined as, for instance, a maintained level of bit rate, low latency, no packet dropping, etc.
  • Page 75 VIVOTEK QoS/DSCP (the DiffServ model) DSCP-ECN defines QoS at Layer 3 (Network Layer). The Differentiated Services (DiffServ) model is based on packet marking and router queuing disciplines. The marking is done by adding a field to the IP header, called the DSCP (Differentiated Services Codepoint). This is a 6-bit field that provides 64 different class IDs.

    VIVOTEK Security > HTTPS (Hypertext Transfer Protocol over SSL) Advanced Mode This section explains how to enable authentication and encrypted communication over SSL (Secure Socket Layer). It helps protect streaming data transmission over the Internet on higher security level.
