WARNING
• It is essential to replace the entire
assembly after it has been worn in
a severe impact even if damage to
the assembly is not obvious.
• Belts should not be worn with
straps twisted.
• Each belt assembly must only be
used by one occupant; it is danger-
ous to put a belt around a child
being carried on the occupant's
lap.

Using the Belt
Pull the belt evenly out of the retractor and
guide it across the body, making certain that
it is not twisted.
Insert the metal latch plate into the buckle.
NOTE
If the belt locks when being pulled
out, rewind it completely in the
retractor, then pull it out to the de-
sired length.
BEFORE DRIVING YOUR CAR 1–29
To remove the belt, depress the red push-
button on the buckle. The belt will retract
automatically.
WARNING
Improper use of seat belts could
cause injuries.
• Do not wear the shoulder portion
of seat belt under the arm.
• Shoulder belt should be posi-
tioned midway over the shoulder,
never across the neck.
• Lap belt should be fitted snugly
around the hips, not the waist.
