Operating the answering machine of the Gigaset SL785 base
Information about call acceptance
In Automatic mode, the following applies
for call acceptance:
u
If there are no new messages, the answer-
ing machine answers a call after 18 sec-
onds.
u
If new messages are present, the answer-
ing machine answers a call after 10 sec-
onds.
When operating remotely (
can tell after approx. 15 seconds that there
are no new messages (otherwise the
answering machine would already have
accepted your call). There will be no call
charges if you hang up now.
Please note:
You can configure your telephone so that
the first ring tone is muted on all calls

page 44). This means that the time
selected for the call acceptance predeter-
mines how long the caller must wait before
the answering machine answers the call.
Resetting fast access for the
answering machine using
key 1
By default, key has been assigned for
fast access to the integrated answering
machine. However, if you have set the net-
work mailbox for fast access (
you can reset this setting.

Select and press
Once you have selected the answering
machine, press and hold key . You will
be connected directly.
The setting for fast access applies to all regis-
tered handsets.

Operating when on the move
(remote operation)
You can check and activate your answering
machine from any other telephone (hotel,
pay phone etc.), or initiate ringback from the
answering machine with an SMS.
Preconditions:

You have set a system PIN other than

page 69).

The phone you are using for remote oper-
ation has touch tone dialling (DTMF), i.e.
you hear different tones when you press
the keys. Alternatively, you can use a code
transmitter (available from your mobile
phone retailer).
Calling the answering machine and
playing back messages

Dial your own number.
9 ~
When you hear your announce-
ment, press 9 and enter the
system PIN.
You will be informed whether any new mes-
sages have been recorded. The messages are
now played back. You can now operate the
answering machine with the keypad.
The following keys are used for operation:
A
To return to the start of the cur-
rent message.
Press twice to go back to the
previous message.
B
Stop playback. Press again to
resume.
3
Go to the next message.
0
Delete current message.
