General safety rules and regulations The scooter is electronically driven. Specific parameters have been factory-set. These settings have been made in order to ensure that use of the Fortress Calypso is comfortable and efficient and they can not be changed. The standard version of your scooter has been tested in accordance with the most stringent requirements for electromagnetic interference.
General description 2 General description The Fortress Calypso is an electrically driven scooter for general indoor and outdoor use. The seat height can be adjusted to the length of the user’s legs. The scooter’s seat can be swivelled and the armrests can be folded away to facilitate sitting down on the scooter or getting up from the scooter.
Main components 3 Main components The scooter is equipped with, or can be equipped with, the following main components: Seat. This is where the user sits. Backrest. Supports the user’s back. C. Headrest Supports the head. D. Armrest. Supports the arms. Steering column The control panel and all of the control keys and levers are located on the steering column.
Adjustment options 4 Adjustment options There are a number of adjustments which can be made to the Fortress Calypso in order to improve its seating and driving comfort levels. Some adjustments are permanent adjustments made by the dealer using tools. Other adjustments can be made by the user without the use of tools.
Adjustment options 4.1.3 Adjusting the backrest The backrest angle can be adjusted as follows: Lift handle (A) whilst sitting on the seat. • The backrest now automatically moves forwards. Push the backrest to the rear by • leaning against it until it is in the position you find the most comfortable.

The headrest height is adjusted as follows: Press the plastic button at the point where the headrest is attached to the seat, at the • same time moving the headrest to the required height. Operation 5 Operation Charging the batteries Consult the following documentation on charging the batteries: Regulations relating to batteries The battery charger manual, or the instructions on the battery charger. The scooter uses gel batteries which are fully encased and sealed and require no maintenance.
Operation Driving the Fortress Calypso The following matters are covered in this manual in order to enable you to drive your scooter: Checks before use • Mounting and dismounting • Control panel • Driving • Pushing • Dismantling • 5.2.1 Checks before use The following checks should be carried out each time before the scooter is used: Check whether the seat adjustments are locked in place.
Operation 5.2.2 Mounting and dismounting (seat may vary from the illustration) Before mounting or dismounting, ensure that the scooter is turned off by removing the ignition key. The automatic parking brake must also be applied. The armrest can be lifted and the seat can be swivelled to the side before mounting or dismounting.

Operation A. Indicators, left / right On pressing the key (on the left or right-hand side) the indicator light starts flashing in order to indicate that you are going to change direction: - press on the left-hand key for turning left - press on the right-hand key for turning right.
Operation Horn By pressing one of the horn keys, a warning sound is emitted to warn others of hazardous situations. The horn continues to sound as long as the key is pressed. Ignition key The ignition key needs to be inserted in the ignition lock in order to switch on the scooter.
Operation Manoeuvring The scooter needs to be adjusted to your personal needs before you begin driving it. After carrying out all of the checks, take your seat on the scooter. See ‘Mounting and dismounting’. You can now begin driving. Use the lap strap if applicable. As the driver of the scooter, it is important to remember that other people may not always notice you.
Operation Remarks: The brakes can be checked by releasing the drive lever suddenly. When driving at high speeds caution must be exercised, particularly • on pavements and in pedestrian areas. Operation Pushing the scooter In the event of a defect, or if the battery capacity is too low for driving the scooter, the scooter can also be pushed by hand. Pushing the scooter can be useful when parking or when manoeuvring the scooter into a small space for storage.
Operation When the Fortress Calypso is in neutral: It is not possible to drive the scooter. • The electronics can be turned on, but the motor can not drive the scooter. • For this reason the electronics should be switched off in such situations. Maintenance 6 Maintenance Maintenance table In order to ensure its best performance, durability and lifespan, your scooter should undergo regular maintenance to be carried out by your dealer. The following table indicates what checks should be made, how often these checks should be made and who should make them.

Eine Kontrolle des Säurestandes ist nicht erforderlich. Bei normalem Gebrauch müssen die Akkus jede Nacht aufgeladen werden.
Bedienung Fahren mit dem Fortress Calypso Damit das Fahren möglich ist, werden in dieser Anleitung für Eigentümer folgende Punkte beschrieben: Kontrolle vor dem Gebrauch • Auf- und Absteigen • Armaturenbrett • Fahren • Schieben • Demontage • 5.2.1 Kontrolle vor dem Gebrauch Vor jeder Fahrt mit dem Scooter sind zunächst folgende Kontrollen durchzuführen: Kontrollieren Sie, ob der Sitz verriegelt ist.
Bedienung 5.2.2 Auf- und Absteigen (Sitz kann leicht abweichen von der Abbildung) Der Scooter muss vor dem Auf- oder Absteigen ausgeschaltet werden. Vor dem Auf- oder Absteigen können Sie die Armlehne nach oben klappen und den Sitz seitwärts drehen.
Bedienung 5.3.1 Armaturenbrett Das Armaturenbrett ist mit der fortschrittlichsten Technologie ausgestattet und bietet zuverlässige und nützliche Funktionen zur Bedienung Ihres Scooters: Blinker links und rechts * Akkuanzeige C. Geschwindigkeitsregler D. Beleuchtung Hupe * Zündschlüssel G. Warnleuchten * Diese Tasten sind sowohl links als auch rechts am Armaturenbrett angebracht.

Bedienung A. Blinker links / rechts Wenn Sie auf die Taste drücken (an der linken oder rechten Seite), beginnt das Blinklicht zu blinken und gibt so an, dass Sie die Richtung ändern möchten: - drücken Sie auf die linke Taste, wenn Sie links abbiegen möchten - drücken Sie auf die rechte Taste, wenn Sie rechts abbiegen möchten Ein Tonsignal zeigt an, dass der Blinker eingeschaltet ist.
Bedienung Hupe Wenn Sie eine der Huptasten drücken, ertönt ein Warnsignal, das andere Personen vor einer gefährlichen Situation warnt. Die Hupe ertönt, solange die Taste gedrückt wird. Zündschlüssel Zum Starten des Scooters müssen Sie den Zündschlüssel in das Zündschloss stecken. Alle Funktionen des Fortress Calypso funktionieren nur, wenn der Zündschlüssel steckt, mit Ausnahme der Beleuchtung und der Warnleuchten.
Bedienung Operationen während der Fahrt Bevor Sie mit dem Scooter fahren, muss dieser optimal an Ihren persönlichen Bedarf angepasst werden. Sie können auf den Scooter aufsteigen, nachdem Sie alle Kontrollen durchgeführt haben. Siehe „Auf- und Absteigen“. Sie können jetzt losfahren. Verwenden Sie gegebenenfalls den Beckengurt. Als Fahrer des Scooters dürfen Sie nicht vergessen, dass andere Personen Sie vielleicht nicht immer bemerken.
Bedienung Unter normalen Umständen können Sie den Fahrhebel zum Anhalten langsam loslassen. Sobald der Scooter zum Stillstand gekommen ist, wird die Feststellbremse automatisch betätigt.
