    6.3.1 Setting the MACHINE # To control a unit via RS-232 or RS-485, each unit has to be identified by its unique MACHINE #. Set the MACHINE # on a VS-81SP unit according to Table 3. A valid MACHINE # is from 1 to 15. For a single, stand-alone machine, set as MACHINE # 1.

    IN 8 01 88 81 81 Kramer Protocol 2000 The VS-81SP is compatible with Kramer’s Protocol 2000, version 0.50. This RS-232/RS-485 communication protocol uses four bytes of information as defined below. For RS-232, a null-modem connection between the machine and controller is used. The default data rate is 9600 baud, with no parity, 8 data bits, and 1 stop bit.
