Initial Setup at the Control Panel

The Installation Wizard

The first time the printer is turned on, the Installation Wizard starts. The wizard prompts you with a
series of questions to help you configure basic settings for your printer.

Configuration Report

After you complete the installation wizard, you can print a Configuration Report. The Configuration
Report lists the current settings of the printer. For details, see
page 14.
System Administrator Access at the Control Panel
To configure the printer from the control panel, press the Menu button, then navigate to the Admin
Menu. If the printer is locked, log in as the system administrator.
To log in as a system administrator:
At the printer control panel, press Menu.

Use the arrow buttons to type the administrator passcode, then press OK.

Locking or Unlocking the Printer

To lock or unlock the printer:
At the control panel, press Menu.

Navigate to Admin Menu > System Settings > Panel Settings.
Navigate to Panel Lock > On, then press OK.

When prompted, use the arrow buttons to change and revalidate the Passcode, then press OK.

Navigate to Max Login Attempts, then select Limited or Unlimited.

If Limited is selected, navigate to Login Attempts, then use the arrow buttons to select the
number of attempts allowed.

Assigning a Network Address

By default, the printer automatically acquires a network address from a DHCP server. To assign a static
IP address, configure DNS server settings, or configure other TCP/IP settings. For details, see
Configuring TCP/IP Settings at the Control Panel

Connecting to a Wireless Network

You can connect the printer to a wireless network using the optional Wireless Network Adapter. For
installation help, see the instructions packaged with the adapter.
