Broadcasts
If you want to receive broadcast messages you
have to enter the Setup menu (see page 28) to
set up different features.
Broadcasts are general messages broadcast to
a group of subscribers. On some networks you
have to subscribe to this facility, on others you
just have to be a network subscriber. Broad-
casts are typically local weather and traffic
reports, stock market prices, sports results, etc.
If you have selected Roaming, i.e. if you are
abroad and connected to a foreign network,
you may be able to receive broadcasts from
other networks, too.
The messages are transmitted in numbered
channels and in general each channel will
contain information of the same type. Broad-
casts may be sent out in different languages.
Contact your network operator for further
details.
• How to read a broadcast message
A broadcast message is scrolled twice on the
display at the time of reception. If you do not
see it at that time, you can read it by selecting
»Broadcasts«.
The display will show the broadcast ID
number and you can thus identify the kind of
message received. Messages are read in exactly
the same way as point-to-point messages. A
read message will be marked by .

In addition to reading the message, you can
press »OPTION« and
– delete it
– store it on your SIM card
– forward it to another phone number
– extract a phone number, if any, from the
message to call or to store in your phone
book
A broadcast message will be deleted when you
switch off your telephone – even if the message
has not been read.
Voice mail
Some networks offer a voice mail function
where you can listen to your voice mails just by
selecting the sub menu »Voice mail«. Other
networks send you an SMS point-to-point
message (see page 14) when you receive a new
voice mail, and you will then have to call your
network operator's voice mail number to listen
to your voice mails. Contact your network
operator for further information.
Enter the Setup menu: Press »MENU«
Scroll through the options:
and
Select an option: Press »SELECT« or »OK«
Get one level back: Press »EXIT«
Get back to standby: Hold »EXIT« down
The Setup menu offers you the possibility of
setting the phone according to your own
personal wishes.

The availabilility and the name of this menu
depends on your SIM card. The options are
defined by your network operator and allow
you to set up a dialogue between you, your
SIM card, and your network operator. If this
menu is available, it will be shown first when
you enter the Setup menu.
On the following pages, the above options
will be explained in greater detail
