Overview
This document is a short description how to power up Viola M2M Gateway (firmware 2.x)
product and how to get it operational. For further documentation consult product User Manual.

Network configuration selection
Viola M2M Gateway can be connected to existing network in two ways. Select either one:
1. Ethernet 1 is connected to public network (WAN) and Ethernet 2 is connected to private
network (LAN). In this case Viola M2M Gateway acts as a firewall for the private network.
2. Ethernet 1 is connected to existing firewall DMZ port and Ethernet 2 is left unconnected.
In this case Viola M2M Gateway acts as a server behind the existing firewall.

    Note that your existing web browser connection hangs up after you apply the settings, so open a new connection to the new IP address (check your Ethernet cabling) 12. Now you should be able to connect to the Viola M2M Gateway with your new IP address. Changing system password The system default password should always be changed to a more secure one.
  • Page 3 6. When you are done, press Confirm button to save the settings. The tunnel should now be added to the tunnel list. 7. The next step is to exchange the SSH keys between the Viola M2M Gateway and Viola Arctic. You need to open a web browser access to both the Viola M2M Gateway and Viola Arctic.
  • Page 4 The Backup module saves user made settings of the Viola M2M Gateway. It backups configuration files and keys of VPN tunnels and firewall settings. Creating backup: From the first page select Viola M2M Backup icon and press create backup button to create a backup file. Restoring backup: Press open button to select the backup you want to restore and press restore backup button to restore the backup.
