TROUBLESHOOTING

This chapter summarizes the most common problems you could encoun-
ter with your machine.
If you are unable to solve the problem with the information below, visit
www.philips.com/support for a list of frequently asked questions or
contact the Philips Saeco hotline in your country.
The contact details can be found in the warranty booklet by-packed sepa-
rately or on www.philips.com/support.
Causes
The machine is not connected to the
electric network.
The power button is on position "0".
Sometimes water is drained auto-
matically by the machine into the
drip tray to manage the rinsing of
the circuits and ensure optimum
machine performance.
The cups/mugs are cold.
The beverage temperature in the
programming menu is set on Low.
You added cold milk to the coff ee.
The hot water/steam dispensing
spout is clogged or dirty.
The machine has not been pro-
grammed.
The blend is unsuitable, coff ee is not
freshly roasted or the grind is too
coarse.
The coff ee beans or the pre-ground
coff ee are too old.
Solutions
Connect the machine to the electric
network.
Check that the power button is set to "I".
This is seen as normal machine behaviour.
Preheat the cups/mugs with hot water or
use the hot water dispensing spout.
Make sure that the temperature in the
programming menu is set on Normal or
High.
Cold milk lowers the temperature of the
fi nal product. Preheat the milk before
adding it to the beverage.
Clean the hot water dispensing spout.
Inspect the steam spout to check that the
dispensing spout is not clogged. Make
a hole in the limescale using a pin or a
needle.
Enter the beverage programming menu
and adjust the coff ee length setting ac-
cording to your personal taste for each
type of beverage.
Change coff ee blend or adjust the grind
as explained in the "Adjusting the Ceramic
Coff ee Grinder" chapter.
Make sure that you use fresh coff ee beans
or pre-ground coff ee.
