    ENGLISH PREPARING FOR USE Machine Packaging The original packaging has been designed and constructed to protect the machine during transport. We recommend keeping the packaging material for possible future transport. Machine Installation Remove the drip tray with grill and the carafe from the packaging. Remove the machine from the packaging.
  • Page 13 ENGLISH Lift the left outer lid. Remove the water tank by using the handle incorporated on the inner lid. Rinse the water tank with fresh water. Fill the tank with fresh drinking water up to the MAX level and place it back into the machine.

    ENGLISH Insert the plug into the socket located on the back of the machine. Insert the plug on the other end of the power cord into a wall socket with suitable power voltage. Switch the power button on the back of the machine to “I” to turn on the machine.

    ENGLISH The machine is in warm-up phase. HEATING UP… Automatic Rinse/Cleaning Cycle When warm-up is complete, the machine automatically performs a rinse/ self-cleaning cycle of the internal circuit with fresh water. This takes less than a minute. Place a container under the dispensing spout to catch the small amount of water which will be dispensed.

    ENGLISH Manual Rinse Cycle You need to perform a rinse cycle when using the machine for the fi rst time. During this process, the coff ee brewing cycle is activated and fresh water fl ows through the dispensing spout. This takes a few minutes. Place a container under the dispensing spout.

The machine will start dispensing water from the INSERT dispensing spout. PREGROUND COFFEE AND PRESS OK When the dispensing is complete, empty the container and place it back under the water dispensing spout.

    ENGLISH Measuring and Programming Water Hardness Water hardness measuring is very important in order to defi ne the machine descaling frequency and to install the “INTENZA+” water fi lter (for more details on the water fi lter, see next chapter). To measure the water hardness follow the steps below: Immerse the water hardness test strip (supplied with the machine) in water for 1 second.

    ENGLISH “INTENZA+” Water Filter Installation We recommend you to install the “INTENZA+” water fi lter as this prevents limescale build-up in your machine and preserves a more intense aroma of your coff ee. Water is a crucial part of every coff ee, so it is very important to always have it professionally fi ltered.

    ENGLISH Coff ee Emptying Cycle When you switch from a type of coff ee beans to another changing the coff ee bean hopper, it is recommended to clean the coff ee duct, in order to fully taste the new blend aroma. For this follow the steps below. Fill the coff ee bean hopper or replace it with a new hopper.

    ENGLISH Saeco Adapting System Coff ee is a natural product and its characteristics may change according to its origin, blend and roast. The machine is equipped with a self-adjusting system that allows the use of all types of coff ee beans available on the market except for caramelized and fl avoured coff ee beans.

    ENGLISH CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE Daily Cleaning of the Machine Caution: Timely cleaning and maintenance of your machine is very important as it prolongs the life of your machine. The machine is continuously exposed to humidity, coff ee and limescale! The activities you need to perform and their frequency are described in detail in this chapter.

Daily Cleaning of the Water Tank Remove the small white fi lter or the INTENZA+ water fi lter (if installed) from the water tank and wash both with fresh water. Put the small white fi lter back or the INTENZA+ water fi lter (if installed) in its housing by gently pressing and turning it at the same time.

    ENGLISH Weekly Cleaning of the Machine Clean the pre-ground coff ee compartment with the cleaning brush. Weekly Cleaning of the Milk Carafe The weekly cleaning is more thorough since all milk residues are removed from the dispensing spout. Press the release buttons to remove the top of the carafe. Remove the lid.
  • Page 69 ENGLISH Remove the suction tube (A). Remove the fi tting (B) from the milk frother by pulling it outwards. Detach the lid (C) from the milk carafe dispenser by slightly pressing on the sides while pushing downwards. Disassemble further the dispenser (D) as shown in the fi gure. Remove the fi tting (E) from the milk frothing device by pulling it out- wards.

    ENGLISH Clean all the parts thoroughly with lukewarm water. Note: You can also clean these parts in the dishwasher. Reassemble the parts following the reverse order. Weekly Cleaning of the Brew Group The brew group should be cleaned every time the coff ee bean hopper is fi lled or at least once a week.
  • Page 71 ENGLISH Seize the brew group handle and pull it outwards. While pulling the lever, remove the brew group. Thoroughly wash the brew group with lukewarm water and carefully clean the brew group fi lter. Caution: Do not use detergent or soap to clean the brew group. Let the brew group air-dry thoroughly.
