SHORT CORD INSTRUCTIONS

a short power cord is provided to reduce the risk resulting from entanglement
or tripping over a longer cord. a longer detachable power supply cord may be
used if authorization is given by a De'Longhi representative. If a longer detach-
able power cord or extension cord is used (1) the marked electrical rating of the
extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appli-
ance, and (2) the longer cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over
the countertop or table top where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over
unintentionally. The electrical rating of the appliance is listed on the bottom of
the unit. If the appliance is of the grounded type, the extension cord should be
a grounded type 3 wire cord. This appliance has a polarized plug. one blade
is wider than the other. as a safety feature this plug will fit in a polarized outlet
only one way. If the plug does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not
attempt to defeat this safety feature.
RECHARGE BASE
The recharge base is used for recharging the battery pack placed in the handle
and it holds the grater when it is not used; therefore, it is necessary to position it
close to an outlet.
RECHARGING
It is necessary to recharge batteries for about 15 hours to permit them work at
full power.
when batteries are completely charged, this appliance is able to grate aprox.
1000 grams of cheese. To start the battery recharge, plug the charging unit in and
place this appliance into the recharge base. The light will turn on, meaning that
batteries are being recharged.

NOTES ON RECHARGING

The voltage of the recharge base contacts is low and does not constitute a risk.
In order to guarantee a long lasting life of the batteries, use the grater quite often.
The handle will become warm during recharging: this is normal.
avoid recharging at temperatures lower than 4°C or higher than 40°C.
If the grater does not work, check that it has been correctly placed into its recharg-
ing base.
Important: if the autonomy of operation seems to shorten in time, it does not
mean that the grater is defective. This trouble may be solved by leaving the grater
on until the roller stops turning. Then recharge the appliance for 15 hours. This
procedure improves the batteries recharging capacity. If necessary, repeat this
operation more than once.
