5.5 Vibration and Shock

All vibration and shock measurements in this section shall be for the disk drive without the mounting attach-
ments for the systems. The input level shall be applied to the normal drive mounting points.
Vibration test and shock test are to be conducted by mounting the drive to the table using the bottom four
screws.

5.5.1 Operating Vibration

The disk drive will operate without a hard error while being subjected to the following vibration levels.
5.5.1.1 Random Vibration
The measurements are carried out with vibration test level 0.67G RMS (Root Mean Square) during 30
minutes of random vibration using the power spectrum density (PSD) as follows.

5.5.1.2 Swept Sine Vibration

5.5.2 Non-Operating Vibration

5.5.2.1 Random Vibration
The test consists of a random vibration applied in each of three mutually perpendicular axes with the time
duration of 15 minutes per axis. The PSD levels for the test simulates the shipping and relocation environ-
ment which is shown below.
