1.2.3 Wireless Features

Wireless LAN
The ZyXEL Device supports the IEEE 802.11g standard, which is fully compatible with the
IEEE 802.11b standard, meaning that you can have both IEEE 802.11b and IEEE 802.11g
wireless clients in the same wireless network. The IEEE 802.11b and IEEE 802.11g standards
use the 2.4GHz band.
The ZyXEL Device also supports the IEEE 802.11a standard that uses the 5GHz band, while
the IEEE 802.11a standard is not interoperable with the IEEE 802.11b standard.
Note: The ZyXEL Device operating at the 2.4GHz frequency band may be prone to
RF (Radio Frequency) interference from other 2.4 GHz devices such as
microwave ovens, wireless phones, Bluetooth enabled devices, and other
wireless LANs.
WPA and WPA2
Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) is a subset of the IEEE 802.11i standard. WPA 2 (IEEE
802.11i) is a wireless security standard that defines stronger encryption, authentication and
key management than WPA.
Key differences between WPA(2) and WEP are improved data encryption and user
authentication.
Antenna
The Prestige is equipped with a 2dBi fixed antenna to provide clear radio signal between the
wireless stations and the access points.
