Check V-Belts
Followinstructionsbelowto check conditionof drivebeltsevery50 hours of
operation.
1.
Remove t he plasticbelt cover o n the front of theenginebyremoving the
self-tapping screwandpressing the plastic tabsto release the beltcover.
2.
Visually inspectfor frayed, c racked, or excessively wornout belts. Replace, if
necessary, andfollowinstructions below.
ReplacingBelts
NOTE: There aretwo beltsonthissnowthrower:anaugerbelt anddrivebelt. It is
recommended t hat bothbeltsbereplaced at the sametime.
1.
Remove t he sparkplugwirefrom sparkplug andgroundit against t he
engineto prevent a ccidental starting.
2.
Run the engineuntil the fuel tank isdry to prevent g asoline leakage when
replacing belts.
Performbelt maintenance outdoorsassomegasmay possiblyleak from the
carburetor.
3.
Remove t he self-tapping screwshownin Figure 17,andpressthe plastic
tabsto release the belt cover. P ullthe belt coverupandout from aroundthe
engineandchuteassembly. Setit aside andsave.

AugerBelt
IMPORTANT: Because g ascouldleakfrom the carburetor w henservicing augerbelt,
runtheengineuntilthe fuel tankis dry,aspreviously instructed in Replacing Belts.
1.
Tipthe snowthrowerupandforwardsothat it restson the augerhousing.
Remove t he belt keeper a scalledout in Figure 19.Return the snowthrower
to itsuprightpositionto complete the followingsteps.
2.
Slipthe front augerbeltoffof theenginepulley,pushing it forwardand
rollinginoffofthe pulley.SeeFigure 18.
3.
Squeeze the augercontrolhandle to release the augerbrake,whichis thetab
that holdsthe belt ontothe augerpulley.Remove t he belt.
4.
Replace w ith newbeltafter replacing the drivebelt.
