NOTE: Wheninstallinga newsparkplug,tighten 1/2-turnafterthe sparkplugseats
to compress t he washer. W henreinstallingausedsparkplug,tighten 1/8-to 1/4-
turn afterthe sparkplugseats to compress t he washer.General Recommendations.

Always observe safetyruleswhen performinganymaintenance.
2.
Thewarrantyonthissnowthrowerdoesnot coveritemsthathavebeen
subjected tooperatorabuse or negligence. Toreceive full valuefrom the
warranty,operator mustmaintainthe snowthrowerasinstructedinthis
manual.

Periodically c heck ai[fasteners andhardware to makesurethesearetight.
Replacing the ShavePlate and Skid Shoes
Theshave plateandskidshoesonthe bottomof thesnowthroweraresubjectto
wear. T hese shouldbe checked p eriodically andreplaced when necessary.
1.
Toreplace, r emove two carriage boltsandnutssecuring eachskidshoeto
the augerhousing.SeeFigure 15.
2.
Reassemble newskidshoes with hardware just removed. M akesurethe skid
shoes areadjustedto belevel.
3.
Toremove shaveplate:Remove b othskidshoes andhardware including
carriage boltsandnutswhichattachshave plateto the snowthrower
housing.Forlocationof shave plate,seeFigure15.

Reassemble newshaveplate,making sureheads of thecarriageboltsareto
the insideofthe housing.Reinstall skidshoes. T ighten securely.
Lubrication

Lubricate pivotpointson the augercontrol a nddrivecontrol w ith a light
engineoil onceaseason.
2.
Lubricate t heauger i dlerbracket withalightengine oil once aseason.

Before operatingsnowthrower,check the oil level.
2.
Change e ngineoil after first fivehoursof operationandevery50hours
thereafter.
3.
Clean sparkplug andresetthe electrode gapto 0.030"at leastonceaseason
or every100hoursof operation; r eplace every200hoursof operation.
Servicing Auger
Theaugerissecured to the spiral s haftwith fourshear p insandcotterpins.Ifyou
hit aforeignobjector icejam,the snowthrowerisdesigned sothatthe pinsmay
shear. R eferto Figure 15.
If the augerdoesnot turn, check if the pinshavesheared. R eplace, if needed, w ith
propershearpins.Referto the PartsListinthismanual f orthe correctpartnumber.
IMPORTAN_ NEVER r eplace the augershearpinswith standard pinsor fasteners.
Anydamage to the augergearbox or othercomponents, asa resultofdoingso,will
NOT becovered byyoursnowthrower'swarranty.
