Troubleshooting
Problem
• Cassette cannot be loaded.
• Picture does not change even
though CH ' / " are pressed.
• Selected programme position does
not appear.
• No colour appears during video
search and the like.
• Picture is skewed.
• NICAM sound cannot be output.
I DVD
Problem
• The Product is switched on but does
not operate.
• The playback image does not
appear.
• No sound is produced.
• The sound is not Dolby Digital (5ch
or 5.1ch).
• The image and sound are garbled.
• The sound is not stable during
playback.
This Product is equipped with a microprocessor. Its performance could be adversely affected by external electrical
noise or interference. If this should happen, unplug the Product and plug it in again after a few minutes.

• Make sure there is no other cassette inside.
• Make sure the cassette is correctly positioned and then reinsert.
• Make sure the Product is not in the timer setting or clock setting
mode.
• The channel may have been set to be skipped.
Cancel the skip setting for that channel.
• When a tape is recorded in the LP mode in the MESECAM
system, the picture is discoloured during video search, still and
similar modes. However, this does not indicate a malfunction.
• If a tape is recorded in the LP mode (regardless of whether it is a
MESECAM or PAL tape), the picture is skewed during video
search. However, this does not indicate a malfunction.
• Is NICAM set to OFF on the OSD mode?
• Have you loaded a disc?
• Is the disc unplayable? (See pages 3 – 5.)
• Is there dew in the Product? (See page 2.)
• Are the video and audio cables connected correctly? (See pages
14 – 17.)
• Is the disc scratched? (See page 5.)
• Is the disc dirty? (See page 5.)
• Is the disc loaded upside down?
• Is the input selector on the TV set to "VIDEO" or "AV"?
• Is the audio equipment switched on and are all the components
connected properly? (Refer to the operation manuals for your
audio equipment.)
• Is the disc you are playing recorded in Dolby Digital (5ch or
5.1ch)?
• Have you set the "
