Indicator and warning symbols
Indicator symbols — left-hand
side
1. Fault in car's emissions system
Drive to an authorised Volvo
workshop to have the system
checked.
2. ABS fault
If this symbol lights, the system is
not working. The car's regular
brake system continues to work,
but without the ABS function.
– Stop the car in a safe place and turn off
the engine.
– Restart the engine.

– Drive to an authorised Volvo workshop to
have the ABS checked if the symbol
remains lit.
3. Rear fog lamp
This symbol is lit when the rear
fog lamp is on.
4. STC or DSTC stability system
A flashing symbol indicates that
the stability system is operating.
5. No function
6. Engine preheater (diesel)
This symbol is lit during engine
preheating. Preheating occurs
when the temperature is below
-2 °C. The car can be started
once the symbol extinguishes.
7. Low level in fuel tank
This symbol lights when there are
approximately 8 litres of usable
fuel left in a petrol-engined car, or
7 litres in a diesel-engined car.
Indicator symbols — right-hand
side
1. Indicator symbol for trailer
This symbol flashes when the
direction indicators are used and
a trailer is coupled. If the symbol
does not flash, one of the lamps
on the trailer or the car is defective.
2. Parking brake applied
This symbol is lit even if the
parking brake is only applied one
notch. Check that the lever is
properly applied.
