Alarm (option)
The alarm system
When the alarm is armed, it continually
monitors all alarm inputs.
The alarm is triggered if:
• a door, the bonnet or the tailgate is
opened.
• the tailgate is opened.
• a non-approved key is used in the ignition
or if an attempt is made to force the lock.
• a movement is detected in the passenger
compartment (if fitted with a movement
detector).
• the car is raised or towed away (if fitted
with a tilt detector).
• a battery cable is disconnected.
• anyone tries to disconnect the siren.

Alarm LED on the dashboard
An LED on the dashboard indicates the alarm
system's status:
• LED not lit - the alarm is not armed.
• The LED flashes once a second - the
alarm is armed.
• The LED flashes rapidly after disarming
the alarm and until the ignition is switched
on - the alarm has been triggered.
If there is a fault in the alarm system, a
message appears on the information display.
Contact an authorised Volvo workshop.
NOTE! Do not attempt to repair or modify
alarm system components. All such attempts
may affect the terms of insurance.

Arming the alarm

– Press the LOCK button on the remote
control. A long flash from the car's
direction indicators confirms that the
alarm is armed and that all the doors are
locked.

Disarming the alarm

– Press the UNLOCK button on the remote
control. Two short flashes from the car's
direction indicators confirms that the
alarm is disarmed and all doors are
unlocked.
