    Preface InterServe 75 Start Here provides information you need to set up the operating system and associated system software on an InterServe 75. The document also provides information you will need if you have to reinstall the operating system and associated system software.

    Hardware Information For more information about system hardware, see the System Guide delivered with the system. NOTE The InterServe 75 system hardware is the same as the TD-260 system hardware described in the System Guide . Ergonomic Information Read the Ergonomics Guide delivered with your system for valuable information on ways to minimize repetitive stress injuries when working with a computer.

    Your InterServe 75 shipped with the Microsoft Windows NT Server 4.0 operating system partially installed. To set up your InterServe 75 for use, you will need to set up the system hardware, and then set up the operating system and associated system software.

    The Windows NT delivery media contains software and drivers for both Reduced Instruction Set Computing (RISC)- and Intel-based systems. When installing Windows NT distribution files, make sure to install them from the \ 386 directory (the Intel software directory) on the delivery media.

    Create a repair disk for the operating system. Create backup diskettes of device driver software and other system software products. Learn about Intergraph Computer Systems customer support. You should take advantage of the tools provided by InterSite Welcome to ensure that your system is fully ready for use.

    Setting Up in a Macintosh Environment You may be using your InterServe 75 in a publishing and prepress environment with Macintosh systems. If so, take the following steps to set up the system for use with these Macintosh systems.

    Configuring Macintosh Printing Services RIP and OPI applications that run on your InterServe 75 may require special configuration to print properly. Refer to your Windows NT Server documentation, and to the documentation delivered with the application software, to determine the proper configuration for the Macintosh Printing Services on Windows NT.

    On a system with Windows NT Small Business Server, refer to the Microsoft BackOffice Small Business Server Late-Breaking News and the document for installation instructions. You can find the system software on backup diskettes that you created, on the Intergraph System CD-ROM, or on the operating system CD-ROM. If you did not create backup diskettes of drivers or other system software products, they are probably available on the operating system CD-ROM or on backup diskettes delivered with expansion boards.

    The following table lists drivers and other system software products installed on various configurations of InterServe 75. If a system software product is not listed, but installed on your system, the product is available from an operating system software CD-ROM, or is delivered with an expansion board or additional peripheral device.

    Follow the instructions in Microsoft’s Start Here document to install Windows NT. As you install the operating system, select the default responses during the Setup process, except for the following: On a system with a 3Com network adapter, the network adapter driver software is not preinstalled.

    Service Packs from the Microsoft World Wide Web and FTP sites free of charge. CAUTION If Intergraph Computer Systems provides a Service Pack through its online service s or with a product or system, it has been certified against Intergraph Computer Systems hardware as described in the announcement of its availability.
