To move tiller in reverse:
(Do not till in reverse)
a. Releasethe ForwardClutchBail.
b. Lift the handlebaruntilthe tinesare off the ground.
c. Slowlypull backon the ReverseLever, a nd carefullywalk
backwardswiththe machine.
NOTE:In reversemode,the tineswill rotateforward.
d. If longerdistancesneedto be coveredin reverse,shutoff the
engine,thenplacethe two wheels inFREEWHEEL.
TURNING
THE TILLER
1.
Practiceturningthetiller in a level,open area.Be very carefulto
keepyourfeet and legs awayfromthe tines.
2.
To begina turn, lift the handlebarsuntilthe tines are out of the
groundand the engineand tines are balancedoverthe wheels.
3.
With the tillerbalanced,pushsideways on the handlebarto steer
in the directionof the turn. After turning,slowlylowerthe tines into
the soil to resumetilling.
SETTING
THE DEPTH
Be certain sparkplug wire isdisconnectedand groundedagainstthe
enginewhenperforminganyadjustments.
Tillingdepthis controlled bythedepthstakewhichcanbe adjusted to five
different s ettings. A djustthesideshields as youadjustthedepthstake.
Whenusingthe tillerfor the firsttime, usethe secondadjustment
hole from thetop (1"of tillingdepth).
Whenbreakingup sodand for shallowcultivation,usethe setting
which gives 1"of tillingdepth (secondholefrom the top). Place
the sideshields intheir lowestposition.
Forfurther depth, raisethe depthstakeand side shieldsand also
makeone or two morepassesoverthearea.
Whentillingloosesoil, the depthstakemay be raisedto its
highestposition(use bottomadjustmenthole)to givethe deepest
tillingdepth. Raisethe sideshieldsto their highestposition.
Totransporttiller,lowerthedepthstake(usetopadjustment h ole).
Toadjust thedepthstake,pull backon thedepth adjustment b racket
(A) and pushup or down(B) untilthe bracketreachesthe desired
position,then releasethe bracket(C). See Figure12.
Toadjust t hesideshields, remove thewingnuts.Move thesideshield to the
desiredposition and replace thewingnuts.Tighten securely. SeeFigure 13.

The handleshouldbe adjustedsothat whenthe tiller is digging3-4"
intothe soil, thehandlefalls to aboutwaste-high.Toadjust handle,
simplyloosenthe handleadjustment c rank,movethe handleto the
desiredheightand retightenthe adjustment c rank.See Figure14.
