Recoil Starter
1. Attach spark p lug w ire and rubber boot tospark p lug.
2. Place the gear s election lever inNEUTRAL.
3. Move the choke l ever onthe engine toCHOKE

Standingon the sideof the unit, graspthe recoilstarterhandle
and pull ropeout untilyou feela drag.

Pullthe rope with a rapid,continuous,full arm stroke.Keepa firm
grip on the starterhandle.Letthe rope rewindslowly.

Repeat,if necessary,untilenginestarts.Whenengine starts,
movechokecontrol graduallytowardthe RUNI _tI position..

If enginefalters,movechokecontrol backtowardthe CHOKE

ALWAYS keepthe throttlecontrol in the START/RUN (Rabbit

TO STOP ENGINE
1.
Tostop the wheelsand tines,releasethe ClutchLever.
2.
Movethrottlecontrolleverto slow (turtle)'_
position.
Wheneverpossible,graduallyreduceenginespeedbefore
stoppingengine.
3.
Movethrottlecontrolleverto STOP_
or OFF position.
4.
Disconnectsparkplug wireand groundit against t heengineto
preventaccidentalstartingwhilethe equipmentis unattended.
TO ENGAGE
DRIVE & TINES
Do not pushdownon the handlebarsto try to makethe tiller till more
deeply.Thistakesweightoff the wheels,whichallow thetines to
rapidlypropelthe tiller,whichcould resultin loss of control,property
[damage,orpersona njury.
1.
Placethe Shift Leverin the desiredforwardtillingpositionand press
the ClutchLeverdownagainstthehandleto begintilling.
2.
Whentilling,letthewheelspullthe machine whilethetinesdig.
Walkslowlybehindthetillerallowing it tomoveat its ownpacewhile
keepinga securegripon thehandlebar w ithyourelbows flexed.
3.
Releasethe ClutchLeverto stop thewheelsand tines.
To move in reverse:
(Do not till in reverse)
a. Releasethe ClutchLever. T hen lift the handlebaruntil the
tines are off the ground.
b. Placethe Shift Leverin the reversepositionand then press
the ClutchLeverdownagainstthe handlebarand walk
backwards with the machine.
NOTE:In reversemode,thetines will not rotate.
TURNING
THE TILLER
Manually
1.
Practiceturningthe tillerin a level,openarea. Be very carefulto
keepyourfeet and legs awayfrom thetines.
2.
Tobegina turn, lift the handlebarsuntilthe tines are outof the
groundand the engine and tinesare balancedoverthe wheels.
3.
Withthe tiller balanced,pushsidewayson the handlebarto steer
in the directionof the turn.After turning,slowlylowerthe tines into
thesoil to resumetilling.
Using the Swing
Lever
Thetiller handlecan be swivelledin eitherdirection.The SwingLever
enablesthe tillerto be guidedsidewaysto the next row.See FigureX.
1.
Pull up on the SwingLeverto releasethe handle.
2.
Swivelthe handleintothe desiredposition.
3.
Releasethe SwingLeverto securethe handlein place.
SETTING
THE DEPTH
Be certainspark plugwire is disconnected and groundedagainstthe
enginewhen performing any adjustments.
Tillingdepthiscontrolled bythedepthstakewhichcanbe adjusted tofive
different s ettings. A djustthesideshields asyouadjustthedepthstake.
Whenusingthe tiller forthe first time,usethe secondadjustment
holefrom the top (1"of tillingdepth).
Whenbreakingup sodand for shallowcultivation,usethe setting
whichgives 1"of tillingdepth(secondhole from thetop). Place
theside shieldsin theirlowestposition.
Forfurtherdepth, raisethe depthstakeand sideshieldsand also
makeone or two morepassesoverthe area.
Whentilling loosesoil, thedepth stakemay be raisedto its
highestposition(usebottomadjustmenthole) to givethe deepest
tillingdepth.Raisethe side shieldsto their highestposition.
Totransporttiller,lowerthe depthstake(usetop adjustment h ole).
Toadjustthe depthstake,removethe clevispin and cotter pin.Move
thedepth staketo the desiredsettingand securewith the clevispin
and cotterpin. See Figure14.

Toadjustthe side shields,removethe wingnuts. Movethe sideshield
to thedesiredpositionand replacethe wing nuts.Tightensecurely.
