Throttle/ ChokeControl
Thethrottlecontrolleverislocated on the left fenderof the tractorasseenfrom the
operator's position, s eeFigure17. T hislevercontrols the speed of the engine,aswell
asthe chokewhenit ispushed all the wayforward.Whensetinagivenposition,
the throttlewill maintainauniformenginespeed.
IMPORTAfl# W henoperatingthe tractorwith the cuttingdeckengaged, b ecertain
thatthe throttle leverisalwaysinthe FAST (rabbit)position.
Movingthethrottle leverall the wayforwardactivates the engine's chokecontrol.
Activating the chokecontrol c loses the chokeplateon the carburetor a ndaidsin
startingthe engine.

ignition Switch
Theignition switchis located on the left fenderof thetractorasseenfrom the
operator's position, a djacent t o the Throttle/Choke C ontrol. A ctivatethe Ignition
Switchto startthe enginebyinsertingthe keyintothe ignitionswitchandturn
clockwise to the START p osition.Release the keyintothe ONpositiononceengine
hasfired.SeeFigure 18.

Clutch-BrakePedal
Thedutch-brakepedal i s located onthe left sideofthe lawntractor,alongthe
runningboard.Depress t he dutch-brakepedalpart waydownwhenslowingthe
tractorbychangingspeeds (Refer t o Speed Control L ever). D epress t he pedalall the
wayclownto engage the discbrakeandbringthetractorto acompletestop.
NOTE: The dutch-brakepedalmustbe completely depressed t o startthe engine.

ShiftLever
Theshift leverislocated on the control p aneljustbelowthe seat,inthe centerof
the tractor.It hasthreepositions, F ORWARD, NEUTRAL andREVERSE. Thebrake
pedal mustbe completely depressed andthe tractormustnot beinmotion
when moving the shift lever. S eeFigure19.
IMPORTANT: Never f orcethe shift lever. D oingsomayresultin serious damage to
the tractor'stransmission.

SpeedControl Lever
Thespeed controllever, l ocated on the rightsideof the tractor'ssteeringconsole,
allowsyouto regulate the groundspeed of the lawntractor.
Touse,depress t he dutch-brakepedal a ndmovethe leverout of the parkingbrake
notchandforwardto increase the tractor'sgroundspeed. W henadesiredspeed has
beenreached, r elease the leverinto anappropriate notchto maintainthat speed.
Toslowthe tractor'sgroundspeed, d epress t he dutch-brakepedal a ndmovethe
speed controlleverrearward andrelease it intoa notch.
ParkingBrake
Tosetthe parkingbrake,fullydepress theclutch-brake pedal.Movethe speed
controlleverallthe waydownandinto the parkingbrakeposition. R elease t he
clutch-brake pedalto allowthe parkingbraketoengage.
Torelease the parkingbrake, d epress the clutch-brake pedal a ndmovethe speed
controlleverout ofthe parkingbrakepositioninto the desired position.Release t he
clutch-brake pedal.
NOTE: Theparkingbrakemustbesetif the operatorleaves the seatwith theengine
runningor theenginewill automatically shutoff.
FuelLeverIndicator
TheFuel L ever I ndicator is located belowthe seatonthe left handsidefrom the
operator's positioninthe controlpanel.Use thiswindowto identifythetractor's
fuel needs. S eeFigure 20.
