Checking
The Oil Level
NOTE: B e sureto check the oil whileon alevelsurface with the enginestopped.
1. Remove t he oil filler cap/dipstick andwipethe dipstick clean.
2. Insertthe dipstickinto the oil filler neck. T urnthe dipstick1/4turn into the
locked positionto fullyseat.SeeFigure 15.
3. Remove d ipstick to check the oil level.
4. Ifthe levelislow,slowlyaddoil until the reading isat the upperlevelonthe
dipstick.SeeFigure 15inset.
5. Reinsert the dipstickandturn to lockedpositionbefore startingthe engine.
Gas&Oil
NOTE: The engineisshipped withoutgasoline andwith motoroil inthe engine.
However, youMUST check the oil levelbefore operating.Becareful n ot to overfill.
Running theenginewith insufficientoil cancause serious enginedamage andvoid
the enginewarranty.
Alwayskeephandsand feet clearof equipment movingparts. Donot usea
pressurizedstarting fluid. Vaporsareflammable.
Oil Recommendations
Beforestartingengine,check oil level;capacityis1700 ml/57.5ft. oz.Referto
viscosity chartfor oil recommendations. Donot over-fill.Use asyntheticor non-
synthetic4-stroke, o r an equivalent h igh detergent, p remiumquality motoroil

container.
SAE 10W-30 isrecommended f or general, a ll temperature use.Ifsingleviscosity
oil is used, s electthe appropriate viscosity onthe nextpageforthe average
temperature inyourareafrom the chartbelow.
Donotusenon-detergent o il or 2-strokeengineoil. It could shortenthe
engine'sservicelife.
NOTE: A5w30syntheticoil maybeusedto improvestart abilityforcoldweather
