TROUBLESHOOTING

Problem
The power does
not turn on.
The power
saving function
does not
activate.
The picture is
not taken when
the shutter
release button
is pressed.
Cause & Solution
The batteries are consumed.
⇒Replace with new batteries.
The batteries are not inserted correctly.
⇒Reinsert the batteries, making sure the polarity
(+ and –) is as indicated.
The battery compartment cover is not fully closed.
⇒Close the battery compartment cover
completely.
Due to cold temperatures, the batteries
temporarily lost their power.
⇒Place the batteries in your pocket, for example,
to warm them up before using them.
The AC adapter (sold separately;
VAR-G5U/E/EX) is connected to the camera.
⇒This is not a malfunction. When the AC adapter
is connected to the camera, the power saving
feature will not activate for at least 30 minutes.
The power is not turned on.
⇒When the power save function is active, press
the [MODE] button, or press the shutter
release button once to restore the power.
The standby indicator is flashing (the camera is
preparing to take a picture).
⇒Wait until the standby indicator lights to take
the picture.
The memory is full (the standby indicator flashes
quickly, and the remaining images indication on
the LCD monitor shows "0".)
⇒Replace the card.
⇒Remove the card and use the internal memory.
Or, when using the internal memory, insert a
card.
⇒Erase unneeded pictures to free some memory.
Save the pictures you want to keep before
erasing data.
