Troubleshooting - Icom IC-40S Instruction Manual

If your transceiver seems to be malfunctioning, please check
the following points before sending it to a service center.
PROBLEM
No power comes ON.
No sound comes from
the speaker.
Transmitting is impossi-
ble.
No contact possible with
another station.
The displayed channel
cannot be changed.
Scan does not start.
No beep sounds.
POSSIBLE CAUSE
• The battery is exhausted.
• Bad connection to the battery pack.
• Volume level is too low.
• Tone squelch is activated.
• The battery is exhausted.
• The transceiver is set to semi-duplex.
• The other station is using tone squelch.
• Lock function is activated.
• The monitor function is activated.
• Scan tag is not programmed.
• Beep tones are turned OFF.

TROUBLESHOOTING

SOLUTION
• Recharge the battery pack.
• Check the connection to the transceiver.
• Set [VOL] to a suitable level.
• Turn the tone squelch OFF.
• Recharge the battery pack.
• Push [DUP] to set to simplex.
• Turn ON the tone squelch function.
• Push [DUP] for 1 sec. to cancel the func-
tion.
• Push [–] to cancel the function.
• Set scan tag to desired channels.
• Turn beep tones ON in SET mode.
