WARNING:Never store the engine, with fuel in the tank,
indoorsor in a poorventilated enclosurewhere fuel
fumes could reach an openflame, spark or pilot light
as on a furnace, water heater, clothes dryer, etc.
Handle gasoline carefully. It is highlyflammable and
careless use could result in seriousfire damage to your
person and/or property.
Drain fuel into approvedcontainersoutdoors, away from
open flame.
If thesnowthrowerwill be storedforthirty (30) daysor moreatthe endof
thesnowseason, t hefollowingstepsarerecommended t o prepare your
snowthrower for storage.
NOTE:Gasoline must be removedor treated to prevent gum
depositsfrom forming in the tank, filter, hose, and carburetor
during storage.
1. Remove gasoline, b y runningengine until tankis emptyandengine
stops.If youdo notwantto remove thegasoline, a ddfuelstabilizer
to anygasolineleft in thetankto minimizegumdeposits andacids.
If thetankis almostempty, m ix stabilizer w ith freshgasolinein a
separate container a ndadd someofthemixtureto thetank.ALWAYS
FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS
ONSTABILIZER CONTAINER.
THENRUN
ENGINE ATLEAST 10 MINUTES AFTER STABILIZER ISADDED TO
ALLOW MIXTURE TOREACH CARBURETOR.
STORE SNOW
THROWER I NSAFEPLACE.
2. Youcanhelp keep yourengine(4-cycles only)in goodoperating
conditionby changing oil beforestorage.
3. Lubricate the piston/cylinder area.This canbe donebyfirst removing
thesparkplugand squirtingcleanengineoil intothe sparkplug hole.
Thencoverthesparkplugholewith a ragto absorboil spray.Next,
rotate theengineby pullingthestartertwoor threetimes.Finally,
reinstallsparkplug andattachsparkplugwire.
4. Thoroughly cleanthe snowthrower.
5. Lubricate all lubricationpoints(see"Lubrication" t opicsin the
MAINTENANCE section).
6. Makesureall nuts,bolts,andscrews aresecurely fastened. I nspect
all visible movingpartsfor damage, b reakage, andwear. R eplace if
necessary.
7. Touch up all rustedor chippedpaintsurfaces; s andlightly before
painting.
8. Coverthebaremetalpartsof thesnowthrowerhousingauger, a nd
theimpellerwith rust preventative.
9. If possible,storeyoursnowthrowerindoorsandcoverit to give
protection fromdustand dirt.
10. Onmodelswithfolding handles, l oosentheknobsthat secure the
upperhandle. R otate theupperhandle back.
11. If themachine mustbestoredoutdoors, b lock up thesnowthrower
andensure theentiremachine is off theground.Coverthesnow
thrower with a heavy tarpaulin.
LUBRICATE HEXSHAFTAND CHAINS

CAUTION:Do not allow grease or oil to contactthe
rubberfrictionwheel or the disc drive plate, if the
disc drive plate or friction wheel come in contactwith
grease or oil damage to rubberfriction wheel will
result.
NOTICE:If grease or oil comesinto contactwith the disc drive
plate or frictionwheel, make sure to clean plate and wheel
thoroughly with an alcohol basesolvent.
1. Positionspeedselectlever(E,Figure4) in first forwardgear.
2. Drainfuelto anapproved container.
3. Standthesnowthrowerup on theaugerhousingend.
NOTE:When the crankcaseis filled with oil, do not leave
the snow throwerstandingup on the auger housingfor an
extended period of time.
4. Remove thebottompanel.
5. Lubricate thechains(A, Figure35) witha chaintypelubricant.
6. Wipethehexshaft(B) andsprockets (C)with 5W30motoroil, before
storage and atthebeginning of eachseason.
7. Installthebottompanel.

1. Puttheupperhandlein theoperating position,tightentheknobsthat
secure theupperhandle.
2. Fill thefueltankwith a freshfuel.
3. Checkthesparkplug.Makesurethegapis correct.If thesparkplug
is wornor damaged, r eplace beforeusing.
4. Makesureall fasteners a retight.
5. Makesureall guards, s hields,and covers are in place.
6. Makesureall adjustments a recorrect.
