Shooting
Problem
Cannot switch to shooting

Disconnect
HDMI cable or USB cable.

When camera is in playback mode, press the
[]
button or shutter-release button.
When menus are displayed, press the MENU
button.
Battery is exhausted.
When flash lamp blinks, flash is charging.
Subject is too close. Try shooting using macro
mode, or the Scene auto selector or Close-
up scene modes.
The intended subject is one with which
autofocus does not perform well.
Set AF assist in the setup menu to Auto.
Turn camera off and then on again.
Use flash.
Enable vibration
reduction or motion
detection.
Use BSS(best shot selector).
Use tripod and self-timer.
Flash is reflecting off particles in air. Lower the
flash or set the flash mode setting to (_) (off).
The flash is lowered, or flash mode is set to
(_) (off).
Scene mode with which the flash does not
fire is selected.
FBsh is not fully raised. Do not hold down the
flash.
Another function that restricts flash is
enabled.
Digital zoom is set to Off in the setup menu.
Another function that disables digital zoom is
enabled.
Another function that restricts the Image
mode option is enabled.
Available image modes differ according to the
current shooting mode.
