EdgingAlongA Curb
Theright,rearwheelofthe edgercanbe loweredinto one
of fivepositionsto easethetaskof edgingalonga curb.
Toadjustthe heightof curb wheel,proceedas follows:
1. Lowerthe right,rear wheelby movingthe curb height
adjustmentleverslightlyto the left. See Fig. 5-2.
2. Pivotthe right,rear wheelintoan applicableposition
in relationto the heightof thecurb to be edgedalong.

3. Releasethe curb heightadjustmentleverto lock the
wheelin position.See Fig.5-2.
BevelAdjustment
Theangleof theedgerbladecanbe adjustedbyplacing
thebeveladjustment i n one of threepositions for edging.
See Fig.5-3.

ARNING: Rotatingcuttingblade may
throw objects causingpersonal injury.
Keeparea clear of bystanders and do
not operate without guards in place.
Beveling
In orderto achievea bevellededge,set the bevel
adjustmentlever(referto Fig.5-3) in the first (left hand)
or third (righthand) notchto placethe edger bladein
positionfor beveling(See Fig.5-4).
Trenching(Optional)
Youcan utilizethe edger'soptionaltrenchingfeaturein
orderto createa widercutting pathfor suchthings as
laying wirefor landscapelighting.
WARNiNG: Disconnect t he spark plug
wire and ground against the engine
before performingthe following steps.
WARNiNG: The edger blade is sharp.
Wear leather work gloves to protect
your hands when working around the
edger blade.
1. Use two wrenches(one wrenchto preventhex bolt
headfrom spinningand the otherto unthreadthe
flangenut)to removeflangenut that securesedger
blade,leavingthe edgerblade in place. SeeFig.5-5.
5. Install the additional edger blade suppliedwith
your unit (model 554) and the flat washer.
See Fig. 5-5.
6. Securewith the flangenut removedearlier.
IMPORTANT:Use a torquewrenchto tightenthe flange
nutto between37 foot-lbs,and 50 foot-lbs.
iMPORTANT:Makecertain that drivebelt is seated
correctlyon blade spindleand that it is ridingsmoothly
on spindlesheavesand is not pinchedbetweenthem.
Repeatfirstthree stepsif belt is pinched.
