Changing the Deck Belt

beforeremoving the belt(s).
All beltson yourtractorare subjectto wearand should
be replacedifanysigns of wearare present.
iMPORTANT: T heV-beltsfoundon yourtractorare
speciallydesignedto engageand disengagesafely.A
substitute(non-OEM)V-beltcan be dangerousby not
disengagingcompletely.Fora properworkingmachine,
usefactory approvedbelts.
Tochangeor replacethe deck belt on yourtractor,
proceedas follows:
1. Removethe beltkeeperrod(s)from aroundthe
enginepulley.
2. Removethe cuttingdeck as instructedearlier in this
section.
3. Removethe beltguardsby removingthe self-tapping
screwsthat fastenthem to the deck.
4. Carefullyloosen,butdo not remove,the deck idler
pulleys.

Removethedeck belt fromaroundall pulleys,including
the deck idler pulleysand the electricPTOclutch(units
with electricPTO).
Routethe newbelt as shownin Fig. 6-7,6-8, and 6-9
and retightenthe deck idler pulleys.
Reinstallthe beltguardsremovedearlierand remount
the deck to thetractor.
8. Routethe beltaround theengine pulleyand reinstall
the beltkeeperrod(s).
