Attaching the Battery Cables
NOTE: If thesecablesare alreadyattached,ignore
thesestepsand proceedto "Gas& Oil Fill-Up."
NOTE: Thepositivebatteryterminalis markedPos. (+).
Thenegativebatteryterminalis markedNeg. (-).

Thepositivecable(heavy redwire) is securedto the
positivebatteryterminal(+)with a hexbolt and hex
nut at thefactory.Makecertainthat the rubberboot
coversthe terminalto help protectit fromcorrosion.
Removethehex boltand wing nut (or hex nut)from
the negativecable. See Fig.3-1.
Removetheblack plasticcover,ifpresent,from the
negativebatteryterminaland attachthe negative
cable(heavy blackwire)to the negativebattery
terminal(-) withthe bolt and wing nut(or hexnut).
4. Makecertain thehold-downstrap is in positionover
the battery,securingit in place.
NOTE: If the batteryis putinto serviceafterthe
dateshownon topof battery,chargethe batteryas
instructedin the maintenance sectionof this manual
prior to operatingthe tractor.
Gas and Oil Fill-up
Thegasolinetank is locatedunderthe hood and hasa
capacityof 2 gallons.Do notoverfill.
_ WARNING: Use extreme care when
handling gasoline. Gasolineis extremely
flammable and the vapors are explosive.
Never fuel machine indoors or while
the engine is hot or running. Extinguish
cigarettes, cigars, pipes, and other
sources of ignition.
IMPORTANT: Y ourtractoris shippedwith motoroil
in theengine.However, y ou MUSTcheckthe oil level
beforeoperating.Be carefulnotto overfill.
Servicethe enginewith gasolineand oil as instructed
in theseparateEngineOperator/Owner M anualpacked
with yourtractor.Readinstructionscarefully.
