To add an index mark yourself,
press
the RE,3 button
on the
remote control
while a tape is. recording
or playing.
Index marks must be added
at least one minute
apart. You
cannot add an index mark
to a tape with its erasure tab removed.
When you add an index mark to a playing
lm]_e, the sound
on the
mono track will turn off.
Tosearchfor anindexmark:

Press the INDEX SEARCH
"+" button
on the remote
control
to begin a forward
search;
press
INDEX SEARCH
"-" to begin
a search in the reverse
direction.
The VCR will fast forward
or
rewind,
and one of two screens
will be di,;played
on the TV.
Once the VCR finds an index mark, it _11 begin playback
from that point. You cannot
begin a se;_rch from still frame.

You can press the plus (+) or minus
(-) buttons
up to 19 times
to search
for that many index marks.
For example,
to find the
third index mark
ahead,
press the plus (+) button
three times.
The on-screen
display
will count down the number
of marks
to be passed
before playback
begins.
To cancel index search,
press PLAY or STOP.

Make sure the video mute function
is on. (See "Using video
mute" on page 31.)

Press the MENU button
on the remote
control.
The "VCR
Main Menu" will appear
on your screen.
Use the JOG/ADJUST
buttons
to move the cursor
next to
"Advanced
Features."
Press ENTER.
("Advanced
Fealmres"
are not available
if there
is no tape in l_he VCR, or if the VCR
is recording.)

The "Advanced
Features"
menu will appear
on your screen.
Use the JOG/ADJUST
buttons
to mow_ the cursor
next to
"Erase index mark."
Then, press ENTEI_;.
If there is no tape loaded in the VCR, if the VCR is recording,
or if
the tape has had its erasure
tab removed,
you will see an error
message
indicating
that this feature
is not a:vailable.
Load a tape
into the VCR, stop recording:
or place a piece of tape over the
erasure
tab to correct this.
You will see the "Erase index mark _ menu (left). Without
exiting the menus,
use the INDEX
SEARCH
buttons
to find
the index mark you wish to erase.
