FIXING PROBLEMS
Troubleshooting
If you think your CORecorder/Player is defective, it is wise to
check this list first, and runthe diagnostic program Maybe
you haveforgotten a simple step
Warning!
Under no circumstances should you attempt to repair
the CD Recorder/Player yourself as this will invalidate
the guarantee.
SYMPTOM: • SOLUTION:
No power
• check to ensurethat the ON/0FFbutton is on
• check to ensurethat the power cable is
plugged in correctly
• switch the recorderOFFandthen immediately
backON
Auto track does not work
• checkto ensurethat auto track is selected.
• checkto ensurethat there are 3 seconds
silence in between the tracks (analogue
recordingonly)
• check to ensurethat the sourceis a consumer
source with the digital outputaccordingthe
lEOaudiostandard.
No sound
• checkthe audio connections
• if using an amplifier, try using a different
source
Amplifier sound is distorted
• check to ensurethat the CDRecorder/Player
analogue outputis not connected to the
amplifier Phenoinput
Play will not start
• checkto ensurethat the label of the CD is
facing up
• clean the disc
• check to ensurethat the disc is not defective
by trying another disc
• makesure that the disc has beenfinalized for
play in a COplayer.
Remote control does notwork
• point the remotecontrol directly at the
CDRecorder/Player
• check the batteries and replace if necessary
Will not record
• cleanthe disc
• checkto ensurethat CD-RWis not finalized
• check to ensurethat the disc is recordableand
replaceif necessary
• makesurethe disc is an AUDIOdisc
(,n, FJ F:fUd _u n may not appear)
• wrong input source selected.
Analog recording is distorted
• makesure the recording level is correct
20 second pause between recordings
• see Synchronized digital recording(CD-SYNC)

Player does not react
• switch the ON/OFFbutton on the front of the
player off andback on
; _-C_UFF on display
• a power failure has occuredduringrecording,
the CORecorder/Player is attempting to repair
the disc.
• if FCR,4 tS£ then appearson the display,the
disc cannotbe recerdedfurther and cannotbe
finalized It can, hewever,still be played on
the CDRecorder/Player or on another CO
recorder
• on a CO-RWdisc, the track being recordedis
lost, but further recordingandfinalization can
still be done.
• If l-,'L;'_PC appearsen the display,the disc
cannot be usedfor recording.However,it can
still be usedas a COon this recorder.
NOr]FEE on display
• While scanning a CObefore recording,a non-
audio track was detected,Thistrack cannot be
copiedandwill be skipped.

If the malfunction persists,perform the DiagnosticProgram:
1 Switch the CORecorder/Player off using ON/OPE
2 Simultaneously press PLAY andSTOP andswitchtheCD
Recorder/Player backonusingON/OFE
Thedisplay will nowindicate bUSEt andaftera few
minutes, t hemessage w ill change to BRI]FIor
P_SSEd
If the rlBrlR messageappears,your recorderis
defective and needste be repaired,Consultyour
supplier or call the PhilipsConsumerLine to find the
nearest servicecentre.The number of the Consumer
Line can be found in the guarantee booklet.
If the PRSSEd
messageappears,you may be
misinterpretingthe user instructionsor using an
inappropriate disc,or there may be a mechanicaldefect
or an incorrect connection. C arefullyread the user
instructionsonce again;and if necessarycontactyour
supplier.
• If you cannotsolve the problem, contact to the nearest
servicecentre.
3 Switch off the CORecorder/Playerusing ON/OFF to exit
from the DiagnosticProgram.
