Nevertheless,we recommendthat you use a CD-RWdisc for
your first try. Thetwo ways to makerecordingsare described
below:
- Digital dubbing)normal or high-speeddubbing)
- Recordingfrom an external source:
- Digital
- Digital with synchronizedstart using external CDplayer
- Analogue
• The recordingprocedureis the same for CD-Rsor CD-RWs
• If the disc is a CD-RWand is alreadyfinalized you must
unfinalize it first (page17).
• If the disc already contains recordings,the CD recorderwill
automatically search for the end of the last track, so that
you can start recordingfrom there.
• There mustbe at least 7 secondsof recordingtime left on
the disc, or you will not be able to activate the record
standby mode.
• If the display indicatescoPYPROHIBIT, no digital recording
can be made of the source material. Recordingwill not
start or will stop after 4 seconds.
• TheSerial CopyManagement System (SCMS)only
alLowsdigital recordingunderspecific conditions:
- It is not possibleto make a digital copyfrom a digital
copy.
- Analoguerecord!ngis always possible!
- Thenumber of recordings f rom the original is unlimited.
• A maximum of 99trackscanbe recorded ona disc.The
minimum allowable tracklengthis 4 seconds.
• Digital recordingscan be madefrom CDs(or other sources
with an output Sample Frequency o f 44,1 kHz+/- 100 ppm)
via the digital input.
• Recordingsfrom DATor DCCplayerswill not stop
automaticagy.

If you want to play back the recorded CD-R disc on the
CD Player deck or on any ether regular CDplayer, it
must be finalized first. See the instructions for
finalizing discs (page 17).
Finalized CD-RW discs play only on CD-RW _
CD players.

[Normal and high-speed dubbing
Usethe dubbing feature for high-speedrecordingfrom the CD
Playerdeck to the CDRecorderdeck.The quality of the
original recordingwill be retained.
Somecomments about dubbing:
A complete disc or programcan be copiedat high speed
(euaa).
- Single tracksor programscan be copiedat normalspeed
(OUeB-I).
- Tracknumberswill be increasedautomatically,
- Tracknumbers cannot be increasedmanually.
Preparing for normal and high-speed dubbing
1 Make sure that the recordingdisc is completelyfree of
scratchesand dust particles.
2 If necessary,pressthe DUALbuttonto switch off the DUAL
mode on the display.

Starthigh-speed dubbing (Disccopy)
1 Torecorda completedisc or program,press DUBB
repeatedly until:
• -) dUbb appearsand OUBB flasheson the display. After
sometime, bUSEr andthe track numberwill appearon
the display.The CD Playerwill scan the trackson the
CDand then stop.

• Tosee the tracksthat will be recorded, press DISPLAY.
Thetrack numberswill be shown in sequence.
- If nu_nFE[ appears,the track cannot be dubbed.
- If F]nF_Lun_UE FEE appears, the trackedwill be
dubbedanalogueat normalspeed.
- All other tracks will be copiedin the normal fashion at
double speed.
- Tracks for whichd f_ It:RL F_E appears will be
digitallyrecorded at doublespeed.
