Parental Controls Levels 29
You can set the DVD Player to block or allow DVD playback according to
the movie rating of the DVD. If someone tries to play a DVD that has a
rating that exceeds the level you selected, they must know your password.
You must enter the password before the DVD wilt play. Passworddetails
are on page 27.
Not alt DVDs conform to the levels you select, as not alt DVDs are coded
or protected by the DVD manufacturer. Therefore, make sure the DVD
plays according to your Parental level choice before you altow chitdren
unlimited accessto the DVD Player or DVDs.
To prevent specific DVDs from playing, regardless of how you set the
PARENTAL level, see page 28.
Press STOP
twice to stop DVD
playback.

Press SYSTEM
MENU.
Press • repeatedly
to select PREFERENCES, then press
OK. You can select PREFERENCES only if you have completely
stopped DVD playback by pressing STOP twice as directed in step I.
Press • repeatedly
to select PARENTAL,
then press I_.

Press • or • to choose the Parental level at which you
want to restrict
playback, then press OK.
For example, if you do not want children to watch movies rated
above PG, select 3 PG. DVDs rated PG can play without entering a
password; however, DVDs rated PG-13, R, NC-17, or X (ADULT)
cannot play unless you enter your password.
Select NO PARENTAL if you want the DVD Player to play alt
DVDs, regardless of their movie rating. You will not have to enter a
_asswordin order to play a DVD.
RATING EXPLANATIONS
ADULT - Mature material;should be viewed onlyby adultsdue to graphic
sexualmaterial, violence,or language.
NC-17 - No children under age 17;not recommended viewing for chil-
dren under age 17.
PG-R - ParentalGuidance- Restricted;recommended that parents restrict
children under age 17from viewing or allow children to view only when
supervisedby a parent or adult guardian.
PG 13 - Material is unsuitablefor children under age 13.
PG - Parental Guidancesuggested.
G - General Audience; recommended as acceptablefor viewers of all ages.
A screen witl prompt you to enter your password. Press the
Number
buttons
to enter
your four-digit
password,
then
press OK. Password details are on page 27.
Press SYSTEM MENU to remove the menus.
• When you press STOP twice to
stop DVD playback so you can
adjust the PARENTAL level,
playback automatically starts
at the beginning of the DVD
when you resume playback.
