• Do not touchany electricswitch;do not use any

phone. F ollow thegassupplier'sinstructions.
• if you cannotreachyourgassupplier, c allthe fire
department.

INSTRUCTIONS
1. STOP! R ead thesafety information above onthislabel.
2. "ltJrn O N/OFF switch oncontrol boxto "OFF".
3. Removeouter door coveringgas thermostatand
burner a ssembly. {Figure 12,Page22)
4. Set the thermostatto lowest setting
by turning the watertemperature dial

clockwise, (F-_)
to its lowest t empera-
ture setting (with arrow on dial) as
shown.DO NOT FORCE. (Figure9,
Page 22)

5. Turngascontrol k nobcleckwise'r_,r* to "OFF"pesi-
tion.Knobcannotbe turnedfrom "PILOT"to "OFF"
unless knobisdepressed s lightly. DONOT FORCE.
6. Waitfive(5) minutes to clearout anygas. If youthen
smallgas,STOP!Follow "B" In the safety information
aboveon this label.If you don'tsmellgas,go to the
nextstep.
7. Remove (or open)innerdoor locatedbelowthe gas
control unit.
8. Findpilot--follow m etal t ubefromgascontrol. T hepilot
Is located ontherighthandaideefthe bumer.

9. If you don't smell gas, turn knob on gas control
{,=(_, to"PILOT" p osition. (Flguro g,
counter-clockwise

10.Push in controlknoball the way and hold down.
Immediately lightthe pilot with a match.Continue
to hold controlknob in for aboutone (1) minute
after the pilot is lit. Releaseknoband it will pop
back up. Pilot should remain lit. If It goes out,
repeatsteps5 through10.
• If knob does not pop up when released,stop
and immediately coil yourservicetechnician or
gassupplier.
• If the pilot will not stay lit after severaltries,
depressand turn the gas controlknobclock-
wise _P_I to "OFF"andcallyourservice tech-
nician or gassupplier. ( Figure 9, Page 22)

12.At armslengthaway, t urngas control k nobcounter-
clockwise _ 0
tothefull "ON" position. WARNING
Do not use-_as control knob to regulate gas
flew. (Flguro 11,Page 22)
13.At armslength away,eat the thermostat t o desired
setting. T he mark(T) HOTIndicative of approximate
120°F ispreferred starting point. S omelocallawsmay
requirea lower starting point. If hotter water is
desired, seeinstruction m anual and"wamlng" below.
14.Replace t heouterdoor. ( Figure 12,Page 22)
15. "rum ON/OFF switch oncontrol b oxto"ON".
