SHAVE PLATE AND SKID SHOES
Theshaveplateand skid shoes on the bottomof the snowthrowerare
subjectto wear.They shouldbe checkedperiodicallyand replaced
whennecessary.
Toremoveskid shoes:
1.
Remove the four carriagebolts and hexflangenuts whichsecure
themto thesnow thrower.
2.
Reassemble n ewskid shoes with the fourcarriagebolts(two on
eachside) and hexflangenuts.Referto Figure17.
Toremoveshave plate:
1.
Remove the carriageboltsand hexnuts whichattach it to the
snowthrowerhousing.
2.
Reassemble newshave plate,makingsure headsof carriage
bolts are to the insideof housing.Tightensecurely.
ADJUSTMENTS
Shift Cable
If the fullrange of speeds(forwardand reverse)cannotbe achieved,
referto the figureto the rightand adjustthe shift cableas follows:
1.
Placethe shiftleverin thefastest forwardspeed position.
2.
Loosenthe hex nut on the shiftcable indexbracket.See Figure
18.
3.
Pivotthe bracketdownwardto take up slack in the cable.
4.
Retightenthehex nut.
Drive
Control
Whenthe drivecontrolis releasedand in thedisengaged"up"position,
the cableshouldhavevery little slack.It shouldNOTbe tight.Also,
if there is excessiveslackin the drivecableor if the unitexperiences
intermittentdrivewhileusing, thecable may needto be adjusted.
Checkthe adjustmentof the drivecontrolas follows:
1.
With thedrive controlreleased,pushthe snow throwergently
forward.The unitshouldroll freely.
2.
Engagethe drivecontrol and gentlyattemptto pushthe snow
throwerforward.The wheelsshouldnot turn.The unitshouldnot
roll freely.
3.
With thedrive controlreleased,movethe shift leverback and
forth betweenthe R2 positionand the F6 positionseveraltimes.
Thereshouldbe no resistancein the shift lever.
4.
If anyof the abovetestsfailed, the drivecableis in needof adjust-
ment.Proceedas follows:

Loosenthe lowerhexbolt on the drivecable bracket.See Figure
19.
6.
Positionthe bracketupwardto providemoreslack (or downward
to increasecabletension).
7.
Retightenthe lowerhex bolt.
