MAKING A CROSS CUT
See Figures 47 and 48.
It is recommendedthat you make test cuts on scrap
wood. Stand at the front of the saw and pushthe
wood to the blade with the miter gage.
_lb WARNING:
Make sure the blade guard is
lowered over blade and is working properlyto
prevent possibleinjury.
• Set the blade to the dghtdepth for the wod<pleceby
tuming the height handwheel.
Set the miter gage to 0 °. Make sum miter gage
knob is securelytightened.
Place a supportthe same height as the top of the
saw table behind the saw for the cut work.
The miter gage may be used in either of the two
grooves in the table. When using left groove, hold
workpiece firmlyagainst the miter gage base with
your left:hand and gdp the knobwith your right
hand, When using the rightgroove, hold workpiece
firmlyagainst the miter gage base with your right
hand and grip the knobwith your left hand. See
F/gum 47.
Check that the wood is not touchingthe blade.
Insertthe key and liftthe switchto the ON position.
Letthe blade buildupto full speed before feeding
the workpiece into the blade with the miter gage.

Hold the work firmlyagainst the miter gage and
pushthe miter gage to feed the work intothe blade.
When the work is completed, press the switch off
and remove the key,

Maldnga test cut on scrap wood is highly recom-
mended. From the front of the saw, positionthe wood
against the dp fence and pushit to the blade with a
pushstick, Be sum the end of the wood is square.
_lb WARNING:
Never stand directly in the line of
cut, Stand to the side to reduce dsk of injury.
_1_ WARNING:
Never push a small piece of wood
Into the blade with your hand.
,d_ WARNING:
Make sure the blade guard is
loweredover blade and is working properlyto
prevent possible injury,
Remove the miter gage and attach the dp fence
over the roils.
