F F F F Using the Flash
Press the F (Flash) button to switch between flash modes. By
default, your camera is set to Flash Off.
From the front edge of the lens, flashlight reaches about 0.2 to 2.7 m
(W) or about 0.13 to 2.1 m (T) when ISO sensitivity is set to AUTO.

Turn the Mode Selector to 5

Press the F F F F (Flash) button to
switch between flash modes.
The Flash mode mark appears
momentarily in a large size at the center
of the LCD monitor and then is
displayed at the upper left.
During flash charging, the flash lamp
keeps blinking. Once the flash is
charged, the lamp goes off and it is
possible to shoot.
Note
• The settings are saved until you press the F (Flash) button to change them.
• When shooting movies or in Multi-Shot mode, the flash turns off.
• When shooting in a dark place, the camera raises the focusing performance (auto focus
precision) by preliminary flashing immediately before shooting. This preliminary flashing is
skipped for shooting in no-flash mode.
• If you are using the camera on AA alkaline batteries, the LCD Monitor is turned off during
flash charging.
The flash will not fire.
When your subject is poorly lit or backlit, the flash fires automatically.
Reduces the red-eye phenomenon, in which people's eyes appear red
when shooting images of people.
The flash fires, whatever the light conditions are, when you shoot.
The flash fires with the shutter speed slowed. (Slow Synchro)
