2. Press the ONLINE buttonagain and hold it down.

button down, press the PITCH button.The
paperwill startmovingbackwardsin a seriesof smallsteps.Whenyou
wantto stop, releaseboth buttons.
Clearingthe buffer
When DIP switch 1-2 is ON, the printer stores received data in a large
memorybuffer.Thiscreatesaproblemwhenyouwantto abandonaprinting
job andrestart:theprintermaybeholdingmoredatain its bufferthanit has
actuallyprinted,and this unprinteddatamust be clearedout beforerestart-
ing. Turningpower off is one way to clear the buffer,but there is another
way:
1. Halt the printingprogramon the computer.If printing stops immedi-
ately,the bufferis clearandthe rest of this procedureis unnecessary.If
printingdoes not stop, continueas follows:
2. PresstheONLINE buttontosettheprinteroff-line.Printingwinnow stop,
but there may be data remainingin the buffer.
3. Press and hold the
FONTbutton.

Whileholdingthe FONTbutton d own,pressandholdthe ONLINE b utton.
Continueholdingthesetwo buttonsdown.In aboutthree secondsyou
will hear a beep tone signalingthat the bufferhas been cleared.
5. Releasethese buttons,make any necessarycontrolpanel settings,then
set the printerback on-line.
It is essentialto halttheprintingprogramon thecomputerbeforeyougooff-
lke. Otherwise,when
you go
back on-linethe computerwill start sending
dataagainandtheprinterwillcontinueprinting,withmissingdatawherethe
buffer was cleared.
