Troubleshooting

Printing is too slow.

Possible cause
Your printer software
options are set incorrectly.
Your system doesn't have
enough resources.
You're using background
printing on a Macintosh.
Your port settings are
incorrect in Windows 95.
Your printer switches to the modem port or won't confirm on the
printer port (Macintosh).
Possible cause
Your Macintosh has
extension confilcts.
You're using an AppleTalk
cable.

Your printer icon doesn't appear in the Chooser (Macintosh).

Possible cause
Your Macintosh has
extension confilcts.
Solution
For faster printing, try the following:
Print Quality
• Set
MicroWeave
• Turn
High Speed
• Turn
No Halftoning
• Choose
Black
• Choose
ink.
See Chapters 1 and 3 for more information.
• Clear space on your hard disk drive or run a defragmentation
utility.
• Don't run too many applications at the same time.
• Turn off virtual memory.
• Increase your system's memory (RAM)
Get Info
Choose
from the File menu and increase the Memory
Requirements for EPSON Monitor2 or turn off background
printing.
Change your default spool directory and disable port settings as
described in Chapter 4.
Solution
Make sure AppleTalk is inactive. In the Extensions Manager,
disable the AppleShare, FileShare, and PrinterShare extensions.
Set your printer and any unused Apple printers to the printer port.
Then restart your system.
Make sure you're using a standard Apple System Peripheral-8
cable. See the Introduction for more information.
Solution
Disable Quick Draw GX in the Extensions Manager. Make sure
EPSON Monitor2 and EPSON Stylus Color are enabled, and then
restart your Macintosh.
