Drift (:utters
The snow thrower
drift cutters are mounted
inverted
at the factory
for shipping
purposes.
1.
Remove the four flange nuts (two on each side) and carriage bolts.
Place drift cutter in upright position and re-secure. See Fig. 9.
Adding
Fuel
Useextremecare whenhandlinggasoline.Gasolineisextremely
flammableand the vaporsare explosive. Neverfuel themachine
indoorsor while theengine is hotor running.Extinguishcigarettes,
cigars,pipesand other sourcesof ignition.
Alwayskeephandsand feet clear of equipmentmovingparts.Do not
usea pressurizedstartingfluid. Vaporsare flammable.

Cleanaroundfuel fill beforeremoving cap to fuel.
A fuel levelindicatoris locatedin the fueltank. Fill tank untilfuel
reachesthe fuel levelindictor,Figure10. Becareful notto overfill.

Tires)
Underanycircumstance do notexceed manufacturer's recom-
mendedpsi. Equaltire pressureshouldbe maintained at all times.
Excessivepressurewhenseatingbeadsmaycausetire/rim
assemblyto burst with force sufficientto causeseriousinjury. Refer
to sidewallof tirefor recommended pressure.
Thetires can be over-inflated for shippingpurposes.Checkthetire
pressurebeforeoperatingthe snow thrower. Referto thetire side wall
for manufactures's recommended psi and deflate(or inflate)the tires
as necessary.
NOTE:Equaltire pressure is to be maintained at all timesforperfor-
mancepurposes.
Fuel Recommendations
Use automotive gasoline(unleadedor low leadedto minimizecombus-
tionchamberdeposits)with a minimumof 87 octane.Gasolinewith
up to 10%ethanolor 15%MTBE(MethylTertiaryButyl Ether)canbe
used. Neverusean oil/gasolinemixtureor dirty gasoline.Avoidgetting
dirt, dust,or waterin thefuel tank. DONOT use E85gasoline.

Refuelin a well-ventilated areawith the engine stopped.Do
not smokeor allow flamesor sparksin the areawherethe
engineis refueledor wheregasolineis stored.

Do notoverfillthe fuel tank.After refueling,makesurethe
tank cap is closedproperlyand securely.

Be carefulnot to spillfuel when refueling.Spilledfuelor fuel
vapormay ignite.If any fuel is spilled,makesurethe area is
dry beforestartingthe engine.

Avoidrepeatedor prolonged contactwith skinor breathing of
vapor.

Checking
Oil Level
The engineis shippedwithoil in theengine.Youmust, however,
checkthe oil levelpriorto operatingthe snow thrower.Runningthe
enginewith insufficientoil cancause seriousengine damageand
void theengine warranty.
NOTE: Be sureto checkthe engineon a levelsurfacewith the engine
stopped.
Toavoidenginedamage,it is importantto:

Checkoil levelbeforeeachuse and every5 operatinghours
whenengine is warm.Checkoil levelmorefrequentlyduring
engine break-in.

Keepoil level between"H" and "L"markson dipstick.See
Fig. 11.

Be sureoil fill cap/plugis tightenedsecurelywhenchecking.

Removethe oil filler cap/dipstickand wipe thedipstickclean. See

Insertthe cap/dipstickintothe oil fillerneck,and tightenthe cap
turningclockwiseuntilcap is seated.
