4: Nextel Direct Connect®
About Direct Connect®
Nextel Direct Connect® is a two-way radio feature that enables you
to communicate with other contacts instantly using a Direct
Connect® number (DC#).
Prerequisite: To make Direct Connect® calls and alerts, the following
conditions must be met:
• The wireless coverage indicator must show a level of wireless coverage.
• NXTL, NXTl, NXtl or nXtl must appear with the wireless coverage indicator
on the Home screen.
View your DC#
1. Click the Phone icon. The phone screen appears.
2. Click the trackwheel. A menu appears.
3. Click Status. Your DC# appears in the format
AreaID*NetworkID*MemberID.
Making Direct Connect® calls
You can make Direct Connect® alerts and Direct Connect® calls to a
single contact or, if your Nextel service plan supports Group
Connect™, you can make calls to talk groups that you have joined.
Make an alert
1. Click the Phone icon. The phone screen appears.
2. With your cursor in the field at the top of the screen, type a DC#
number in the format AreaID*NetworkID*MemberID.
3. Click Alert. The Ready to Alert dialog box appears.
