Chapter 9 Working with Map Layers
The following illustration shows a style set with three styles. The first is a
wide red line, the second is a narrower yellow line, and the third is a very thin
dashed red line. This will draw the polylines on the layer three times in three
different ways to create the visual effect of a highway with a center line.
Styles area in the Styles tab of the Map Layer Properties dialog box
In the preview box, the right half of each style shows the style you specified
for it, and the left half of each style shows the cumulative effect of drawing
that style on the previous style (the first style in the list is drawn first, the
second style is drawn on top of that, and so on). Thus, the left side of the last
style shows you the final style that will be used to draw the polylines on the
map.
To create another style, click New in the Styles area, and then specify the line
style, color, and width that you want to appear on top of the existing style.
Setting Display Styles for Polygon Layers
You can specify the fill style and color, edge style and color, background, and
line thickness used to draw polygon layer features. To specify styles for
polygon layers, you double-click a style in the Styles tab of the Map Layer
Properties dialog box to display the Polygon Style dialog box.
